| Acupuncture, Hypnotherapy, Yoga Therapy and Energy Healing are holistic healing practices which are thousands of years old. Unlike Western medicine, these techniques focus on the whole person and thus derive the name "holistic." Several leading universities and medical centers in the United States are now incorporating these holistic (also called alternative) medical techniques in their patient management. The unique characteristics of these ancient healing practices are that they: Treat the whole person (mind, body and spirit), not just the symptoms Stimulate body’s own healing powers thereby preventing diseases and/or shortening their course Help people to be active participants in their own health care Reduce stress and improve health, immunity and quality of life. (Stress is a major contributor to several diseases including heart disease and hypertension.) Can be used as alternative or complementary to standard medical treatment Have no side effects or complications commonly encountered with medications Has no interactions with medications . |
